LifeHacker points to WebDesktop today. It's an interesting application that puts a web page on your desktop. You can interact with it, but you can also set a refresh rate. So if you are monitoring a site which changes often but doesn't autoupdate, you can set it to refresh every minute or 3 minutes or whatever and never miss anything.
